Kitchen Services and Resources

We host classes for youth and adults in the community that offers hands-on learning in the kitchen with a strong connection to our farm and learning garden. Our volunteer opportunities provide both education in the culinary arts and experience in the foodservice industry to young adults, at-risk youth, and unemployed adults re-entering the workforce.

Our menu and learning opportunities change with the season and availability of resources.

The kitchen will fill an important need in the community:

  • Affordable, healthy foods

  • Quality catering

  • Event space catering in the Wimberly Center and beyond

We offer on-site and off-site catering services for your next business meeting, wedding, reunion, or other special event. Enjoy healthy foods featuring locally grown, organic produce from our community farm or other local farms. Proceeds from catering opportunities go towards funding Wimberly’s Roots classes and resources for the teaching garden, community farm, and demonstration kitchen.

Cooking Classes

Whether you’re a seasoned chef or just learning your way around the kitchen, we take pride in serving as an educational resource for cooks of all skill levels. We offer a variety of cooking classes for adults and children, as well as team building classes for your office or organization. All scheduled classes are listed on our Events page, or are available by request.

Demonstration Kitchen

We host classes in our demonstration kitchen that offer the experience to learn about new and familiar foods, cooking techniques, and new recipes! Our classes for youth, adults, and seniors provide a unique experience to engage in cooking foods they can pick themselves from the garden.

Community Cafe - Coming Soon!

We will be opening a Community Cafe in the Fall of 2020 to provide more accessible healthy food to the city of Winder and local groups. Our cafe will be a donation-based, “pay what you can” model to meet our goal of increasing food security in our community. The menu will change weekly depending on what is harvested from the farm and available for the season.
