Educational Programs

We are excited to announce that we are now offering cooking and gardening programs for kids!

If your child is interested in learning more about growing, preparing, and eating fresh food from the garden then join us as we explore where food comes from in the garden and try out new cooking skills in the kitchen.

Every program is structured between time in both the garden and kitchen and will be centered around a theme based on the season and what is growing in the garden.

See below for our Fall 2019 offerings!

Welcome to Wimberly's Roots! This weekly drop-in class is open to kids of all ages and focuses on eating with the seasons. Each week we will try out a new recipe and practice basic cooking skills using fresh produce from the garden. Parents are welcome to attend with their child and learn more about our programs at Wimberly's Roots.

With the holiday season upon us, join us at Wimberly's Roots for a fun day of baking pies! We'll learn how to make a delicious, flaky pie crust from scratch and bake North Georgia Candy Roaster Squash Pie. This squash came right from our garden and is a local heirloom variety originally grown by the Cherokee people. Each participant will take home their own homemade pie to share at their Thanksgiving gathering. Parents are welcome to join and learn alongside their child.
